Wakeboarding
My friends Ryan and Eric took me out wakeboarding on Cheat Lake last summer, and it’s taken me over a year to get around to editing/posting the photos. Thanks for the patients guys!
I had more fun shooting photos of Ryan and Eric jumping wakes than I did wakeboarding itself.
It turns out, I’m not very good at it… I almost stood up once ;P …and hurt my fingers in the process. I’m a climber, so I’m generally good at not letting go of things once I have a good grip on them. Well, horizontal water sports are a little different than the on land vertical ones I’m use to. With my hands taking the load of the drag force from the wakeboard and my flailing body in the water, compounded by the pull of the boat…my fingers got a little tweaked.

The core lesson I learned from the experience is that it’s okay to let go… I’m mean, how else could Kate Winslet live with herself if it wasn’t Okay…

Hopefully I’ll have a chance to photograph this dynamic duo again this summer.
Per these shots, I was shooting with a Nikon D300s, 70-300 VR. Check out some more photos from last years Cheat Lake Wakeboarding adventure! If you’re interested in my camera settings, just click on the info button when viewing the images in the lightbox at the aforementioned link. Cheers!
